Early language contact research often focused on the so-called explicit language mix-ing, where the elements of one language were clearly present in the second language. This article is devoted to the less frequent manifestations of the so-called implicit lan-guage mixing, where only structures of one language are used, whereas the means of expression are taken from the other language. The research corpus is made up of state-ments by bilingual Upper Silesians, who were interviewed as part of a project on time witnesses accounts.
